A large-scale mosquito control operation will take place across Kumanovo and surrounding neighborhoods after midnight on Wednesday, May 21, local authorities announced.
The first round of ground-based disinfection treatment is scheduled to begin at 00:00 and continue until the early morning hours, targeting several areas identified as mosquito hotspots.
According to the municipality, the operation will cover locations along the Kumanovka River, stretching from Kumanovo Spa through the village of Proevce and the Bejtovi Nivi area, all the way to the city quay and riverside zones throughout the city.
Spraying will also be carried out near the City Park, Nikola Tesla Street, the “Toli Zordumis” primary school, as well as in the neighborhoods of Divo Naselje, Romanovce and Zelen Rid. Major boulevards including “October Revolution” and “Third MUB” will also be included, together with the central urban area.
Special attention will be given to the area around the General Hospital in Kumanovo, while city cemeteries — considered one of the largest mosquito breeding grounds — are also among the priority locations.
The treatment will be carried out using the “Citrol ULV” insecticide. Officials said the operation could be postponed to the next suitable day in case of unfavorable weather conditions.
