Municipality of Kumanovo has started the complete reconstruction of Bajram Shabani Street, a project financed through the second government call under the so-called Hungarian loan program.
According to information published by Maksim Dimitrievski, works currently include the installation of concrete curbs and the construction of new sidewalks, after which the entire street will be asphalted.
Earlier, a stormwater drainage system more than 800 meters long was completed at the location, creating important conditions for further traffic infrastructure improvements and better living conditions for residents in this part of the city.
Municipal officials note that the project is part of a broader investment cycle financed through the government program and Hungarian loan funds, under which around 30 infrastructure projects are planned across Kumanovo.
Dimitrievski recently stated that more than half of the approved projects have already entered the implementation phase, while many are actively progressing on site.
“More than 50 percent of all applications, representing around 30 infrastructure projects, have already entered implementation, while half are currently under construction,” Dimitrievski said.
He explained that some projects will begin after additional funding is secured through amendments to the state budget in order to avoid financial difficulties for contractors.
“We are carefully monitoring the process to avoid placing construction companies in a financial vacuum where completed works could not be reimbursed for a longer period,” he added.
According to the mayor, the pace of implementation of active projects is satisfactory, while the local government remains committed to investments in road and utility infrastructure aimed at improving citizens’ quality of life.
