Work is underway on laying the first asphalt layer on streets within the new Novini and Rečica industrial zone in Kumanovo, Mayor Maksim Dimitrievski announced.
According to the mayor, infrastructure development is progressing alongside growing interest from both domestic and foreign investors seeking opportunities in the industrial zone.
“There is interest in investing in the Novini and Rečica industrial zone, and more than 70 percent of the second phase has already been completed. We are now awaiting the disbursement of funds from the Hungarian loan, which will be included in the state budget rebalance,” Dimitrievski said.
He noted that several investments are already being implemented in the zone, including a project by Lidl.
“At the same time, we have several investments, including Lidl’s investment. They have completed their part of the obligations and are now expanding activities related to preparing construction sites for their stores in Kumanovo and other locations. According to the information I have, they should become fully operational next year,” the mayor stated.
Dimitrievski emphasized that the municipality does not intend to rush the sale of the remaining land parcels until the zone’s infrastructure is fully completed.
“Regarding the interest shown by other potential investors, the municipality is not in a hurry. We want to complete the full development of the zone first. This will increase the value of the land, allowing the municipality to generate greater revenue from future sales,” he explained.
The ongoing road paving marks another important phase in the development of the Novini and Rečica industrial zone, which is expected to become one of the key locations for new investments and job creation in Kumanovo.
