Police issued 70 fines to motorcyclists and electric scooter riders during a large-scale traffic enforcement operation carried out yesterday in Kumanovo. Several motorcycles and a quad bike were also seized.
According to the Ministry of Interior, the operation was conducted between 2:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. by the Mobile Road Traffic Safety Unit and the Traffic and Escort Department, with a focus on sanctioning electric scooter riders who failed to comply with traffic regulations.
A total of 70 measures were imposed for traffic violations and criminal offenses.
Among them were nine sanctions against electric scooter riders, two for motorcycles with expired registration permits, 39 for motorcyclists not wearing protective helmets, one for driving under the influence of alcohol, one for an expired insurance policy, three for operating a vehicle without the appropriate license category, three for not carrying or renewing a driver’s license, and eight for failing to display registration plates.
During the operation, one motorcycle was seized due to registration being expired for more than six months.
Police also detected four criminal offenses. Three involved minors operating motorcycles, while one person was arrested for the criminal offense of reckless driving under Article 297-a of the Criminal Code. Three motorcycles and one quad bike were confiscated in connection with these offenses.
Authorities stated that appropriate legal actions have been initiated against all offenders.
Traffic controls will continue in the coming period.
Police urged all road users to respect traffic laws and regulations, stressing that responsible behavior is essential for safer roads.
