More people died than were born in Kumanovo during the first quarter of 2026, according to data released by the State Statistical Office.
Between January and March, a total of 205 babies were born in the municipality, while 286 people died, resulting in a negative natural population growth of 81 residents.
Despite the negative trend, the figures show an improvement compared to the same period in 2025, when the natural decrease stood at 153. At that time, 173 babies were born and 326 people died.
A decline was also recorded in the number of divorces, while marriages increased.
During the first three months of the year, 68 couples got married, 13 more than during the same period last year.
At the same time, 24 couples ended their marriages, representing 12 fewer divorces than in the first quarter of 2025.
Staro Nagoričane
In the neighbouring municipality of Staro Nagoričane, six children were born and 17 residents died during the first quarter of the year, resulting in a negative natural increase of 11.
The figures are similar to those recorded a year earlier, when seven children were born and 17 people died, producing a natural decrease of 10.
Two marriages and two divorces were registered in the municipality during the period. In the same period last year, five marriages were recorded and no divorces.
Lipkovo Municipality
In Lipkovo Municipality, 44 children were born during the first quarter of 2026, while 54 people died, resulting in a negative natural increase of 10.
During the same period in 2025, 41 children were born and 46 people died, producing a natural decrease of five.
A total of 111 marriages and two divorces were registered this year. The number of divorces remained unchanged compared to last year, while the number of marriages increased from 103.
National Overview
Across Macedonia, 3,380 children were born during the first quarter of 2026, a decrease of 4.1 percent compared to the same period in 2025.
The number of deaths fell by 1 percent to 5,342, including nine infant deaths.
As a result, the country recorded a negative natural increase of 1,962 people.
During the same period, 1,797 marriages were registered, down 2.7 percent year-on-year, while the number of divorces rose by 6.2 percent to 494.
