WHC Kumanovo celebrated a crucial 37–32 home victory over RK Spartak on Thursday evening, securing qualification for next season’s Women’s EHF European Cup.
The match featured an exciting first half, with both teams exchanging goals and neither side managing to establish a significant advantage.
The teams went into halftime level, but the home side returned strongly after the break and eventually pulled away to claim a five-goal victory.
With the win, Kumanovo not only strengthened its hold on fourth place in the league standings ahead of the final rounds of the season, but also secured the right to compete in next season’s European competition under coach Aleksandar Bojkovski.
Portuguese player Mariana Silva Azevedo led Kumanovo with an outstanding performance, scoring 13 goals. Nena Nestorovska added nine goals, while Brazilian player Amanda Stein contributed seven.
For Spartak, Anastasija Nikolovska was the top scorer with 12 goals, while Sara Cvetanovska added 10.
Two rounds remain before the end of the season. Kumanovo will host WHC Chair on Sunday before closing the campaign against WHC Pelister.
At this stage, fourth place is mathematically secured for the Kumanovo side.
